Static snapshot · Compiled 25 October 2026Showing 9 indicators · Each figure has its own reference period
People aged 7 years and above who can read and write with understanding. This is a literacy measure, not school enrolment or learning proficiency.
MoSPI · PLFS / PIBUnemployed people as a share of the labour force aged 15+. Measured in usual status; this does not mean that 96.8% of all adults have jobs.
MoSPI · PLFS 2023–24Unemployment among people aged 15–29 in the labour force, measured in usual status. Job quality and underemployment are separate issues.
Ministry of Labour & Employment · PLFSAbout 172.1 million people, as shown in the UN SDG country profile. Undernourishment estimates inadequate habitual dietary energy intake; it is not a daily count of people missing a meal.
UN SDG Country Profile · FAO seriesChildren under five with low height for their age. Stunting reflects cumulative nutritional and health disadvantages and is distinct from hunger or wasting.
MoHFW · NFHS-6 / PIBHouseholds covered by a health insurance or financing scheme. Coverage is not a measure of healthcare quality, service use or complete protection from medical costs.
MoHFW · NFHS-6 / PIBNITI Aayog’s estimated population share facing overlapping deprivations in health, education and living standards. This is not an income poverty-line measure.
NITI Aayog · Discussion paperWorld Bank estimate at US$3.00 per person per day in 2021 purchasing-power-parity terms. This international threshold is not an Indian BPL eligibility list or a market-exchange-rate conversion.
World Bank · Poverty & Equity Brief31,516 cases registered in 2022, equivalent to an annual average of 86.3 per day. Registered cases are not convictions, victims counted, or the total incidence of sexual violence.
NCRB · MHA parliamentary replySelected benchmarks, not a live feed. Sources use different years and methods. These cards are not a single-year picture, a ranking or a set of values to add together. Later publications or revisions may exist; follow each source for its full tables.
Poverty has different definitions. NITI Aayog’s national multidimensional measure and the World Bank’s international monetary threshold answer different questions. Neither card identifies individual households eligible for an Indian BPL scheme. Purchasing-power parity (PPP) adjusts for price differences across countries.
Recorded sexual violence is incomplete. The 2022 rape statistic is an explicitly historical, source-verifiable benchmark. The daily mean is calculated from annual registered cases, not a claim that exactly that many cases occurred each day. Underreporting, classification and registration practices affect recorded numbers; unreported incidents are not captured.
Responsible interpretation. National averages can hide state, gender, rural–urban and social disparities. These figures describe national conditions and are not PR Foundation’s project outcomes. This is a manually maintained snapshot; compilation date does not make every measure current.
